Event Description Substance abuse and its second hand effects is one of the leading causes of academic difficulty on four year campuses. While less research has been done regarding community college students, we know that national research suggests one in four of us grew up in an alcoholic home, one in ten of us are addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs and countless others are significantly impacted by a partner, friend or family member's drinking and/or drug use. All students who would like to talk about the issue of substance abuse and its impact on learning at GCC are welcome to join us for a conversation with Susan McCarthy, Director of the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Project at Mount Holyoke College. Whether you are living in a home where substance abuse is an issue, in recovery, actively using, concerned about someone else's use or simply interested in sharing your ideas, ALL are welcome. |
