Event Description Renowned geologist Richard Little will lead a tour along the Green and Connecticut Rivers. Participants will meet for a one-hour information slide presentation. Over the morning hours we will leave our cars behind and be transported back in time by bus and short hikes to local sites, exploring what was discussed earlier.
Bring a bag lunch to enjoy along the river at a picnic site at Barton’s Cove before we launch aboard the Quinnetukut II for a riverboat cruise. Here geology comes alive through the clear and often humorous stories told by Prof. Little. This relaxing cruise on the Connecticut will be filled with tales of drifting continents, earthquakes, dinosaurs, glaciers and Lake Hitchcock that are part of the creation of our idyllic valley.
Just $20 a person (Gill residents, PVI, & FLT members), $25 general admission, covers bus and boat costs. Limited to 50 participants. Co-sponsored by the Franklin Land Trust. Register now at the FLT, 413-625-9151 or by emailing PVI; or call 413-775-1671 and leave a clear message with a call-back number.
